The Power List 2016

Celebrating the Top 50 Women in analytical science. Nominations now closed.

The number of women on The Power List almost tripled from eight in 2013 to 23 in 2015. In 2014, women comprised 32.5 percent of the “Top 40 Under 40”. But is that truly representative? 2016’s Power List will celebrate the skills and careers of women in analytical science – 50 of them to be precise. Will it be difficult to find 50 inspiring women? We don’t think so. Importantly, we hope that our efforts are not seen as tokenism or condescension, but rather an attempt to balance the scales.

The Process
  • Nominations for The Analytical Scientist Power List are welcome from individuals, groups or organizations
  • You may nominate up to three individuals by sending an email to: [email protected] or visiting: http://tas.txp.to/power/2016
  • The persons nominated should be (a) be involved in some aspect of analytical science and (b) female
  • The full list of nominations will be put to the expert panel
  • Under the guidance of the Chair, the panel will decide on the Top 50. The panel’s decision is final and no correspondence regarding their deliberations or the final list will be entered into
  • The Analytical Scientist Power List 2016 will be published in the October 2016 issue of The Analytical Scientist, in print and online

About the Author(s)

Rich Whitworth

Rich Whitworth completed his studies in medical biochemistry at the University of Leicester, UK, in 1998. To cut a long story short, he escaped to Tokyo to spend five years working for the largest English language publisher in Japan. "Carving out a career in the megalopolis that is Tokyo changed my outlook forever. When seeing life through such a kaleidoscopic lens, it's hard not to get truly caught up in the moment." On returning to the UK, after a few false starts with grey, corporate publishers, Rich was snapped up by Texere Publishing, where he spearheaded the editorial development of The Analytical Scientist. "I feel honored to be part of the close-knit team that forged The Analytical Scientist – we've created a very fresh and forward-thinking publication." Rich is now also Content Director of Texere Publishing, the company behind The Analytical Scientist.
