Science can change lives for the better – from making medicines, to providing cleaner water and safer food. The Humanity in Science Award recognizes and rewards a recent scientific breakthrough that can potentially have a real impact on humankind’s health and wellbeing. The award is open to researchers worldwide and the grand winner(s) will receive a prize of $25,000.How?
There are two ways to enter. You can nominate the work of yourself or your team with an essay, or nominate a peer’s work by submitting a letter of recommendation. The nomination must describe how the work has impacted humanity – and the work must have been completed in the last three years. The previous winners are Waseem Asghar (2016), and Peter H Seeberger and Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern (2015). Using paper and flexible substrates as materials for biosensors, Asghar and his collaborators identified a new rapid and cost-effective way to diagnose diseases and monitor treatment in point-of-care settings.
