Funniest moment During development an instrument started a life of its own, throwing microfluidic chips around the lab. We had to install webcams to find out what it was doing at night and got some very funny videos showing the robotics going crazy due to a firmware bug.

Eye on the horizon HPLC still has a lot of potential for development, in particular in the area of multi-dimensional separations and coupling with MS. With the challenges in health care, systems biology, environmental issues and other fields like doping control and food safety, analytical sciences will always lag behind the needs and will require constant development in terms of speed and depth of information.
